Why Is The Final Match Of The League Between SRH And MI The Most Important?

The match between RCB and DC promised to be a blockbuster and even though it didn’t go right down the wire it was surely a gripping contest that had  4 teams invested in the outcome of this game.

There was all sort of scenarios associated with the RCB DC match, that made winning the game all the more special. DC managed to come on top and assured themselves a 2nd spot in the points table. It not only broke their chain of 4 consecutive losses but also assured them of a berth in Qualifier 2, wherein they would be taking on Mumbai Indians in Dubai.

But does that mean RCB got knocked out?

Not at all, RCB too have qualified for the playoffs since they managed to stretch DC up until the 19 overs which ensured their NRR doesn’t fall below that of KKR and therein they secured themselves a 3rd spot (currently) ahead of KKR who have a slightly lesser NRR.

So what this means for KKR and SRH? Why is the last match so important?

This brings us to the 56th match of IPL 2020, the last encounter of the league stage between SRH and MI. The fate of two teams lies with the outcome of this game.

And the fun fact is that the second team who is bothered with the result is not MI but KKR, who would be in turn pushing and cheering for MI to win over SRH, which would make them stay at 4th position in the points table and help them get to the playoffs.

While SRH would come out with full energy and confidence to take down MI and thereby secure a playoff berth edging over KKR, thanks to their superior NRR. Their NRR is so good that if they win they could even leapfrog RCB and move up to 3rd position in the points table and RCB would then be 4th and KKR would get eliminated.

Sure scenario:

Qualifier 1:

MI vs DC, Dubai on 5th November

Possible scenarios after the completion of 56th match | SRH vs MI

1. If SRH win, they qualify for playoffs and meet RCB in the eliminator on 6th November at Abu Dhabi

2. If SRH loses, KKR would go through to the playoffs and face RCB in the eliminator on 6th November at Abu Dhabi.

Sharjah would be the venue hosting this all-important clash and expect nothing less than a firecracker of a game which is sure to grab a million eyeballs.

Fasten your seat belts folks, the real fun is just about to begin!
