Why Bhuvneshwar Kumar Does Not Want To Play Test Cricket Anymore ?

Indian swing master’s absence in the England tour was surprising for many cricketing fans and experts. He has not only gained his fitness back this year but also he has shown his desire to give a comeback in red-ball cricket after making a successful comeback against England.

Bhuvi has not played a single Test since  his last game in January 2018, due to multiple injuries that has kept him away from the Indian national team. He had a brilliant comeback against England and in IPL 2021. He looked confident about making a return to the longest format as well.

In a recent interview, he has confessed that – “I was unfit for a very long time, it’s on my mind that the England tour and a few important series are coming up so I will try to stay fit. I have not ruled out red-ball cricket. My preparation would also keep the red-ball format in mind. It is a different matter as to what happens in Test selection. Workload management in IPL would keep red-ball cricket in mind. I want to play Tests, so I will try to stay ready for the longest format,”.

One of the BCCI sources told that – Bhuvneshwar Kumar just does not want to play Test cricket anymore. That drive has gone missing, To be honest, the selectors don’t even see Bhuvi hungry for 10 overs, forget Test cricket. It’s Team India’s loss no doubt because if one bowler should have made it to England, it should have been him,” the source stated.

In the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Virat Kohli and Co. are not short of pace bowling choices. Team India is expected to leave on June 2nd for the WTC Final which is on 18th June 2021 at Southampton.
