Who is Harry Brook? Player who smashed 4,4,4,4,4,4 in one over on day 1 and 27 on day 2 in a single over again!

Harry Brook just like the other English batters on day 1 of the test between England and Pakistan in Rawalpindi, just frustrated the host’s bowlers with their T-20 style batting.

With four of the English batters on day 1 played with a 100-plus strike rate, and three of them scored centuries. Isn’t it mind-boggling?

Wait, the drama didn’t finish there, as the English batters were kept of playing against hearts of Pakistan’s fans and the record book of cricket.

There is one young-player in between, who was flawless in the T20 series couple of months back, which England won by 4-3, started from where he left.

Yes, we are talking about Harry Brook.

Before we discuss more about his tremendous knock, first learn more about him.

Who is Harry Brook?

Harry Brook is a right-handed batter of team England, and plays in all format.

His first class career started when he was 17 and made debut for Yorkshire during the game against Pakistan A in June 2016.

He made his debut for the County Championship the following year, where he smashed three consecutive centuries in the span of 14 days.

Brook was the captain of team England U-19’s team during their tour to India in 2017.

In December 2007, he got rewarded as he selected to lead the English side in 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made a record there too, as he struck a brilliant century in team’s second fixture, becoming the second English skipper next to Alastair Cook to hit a ton in the U-19 cricket World Cup.

He ended the tournament with the highest run-scorer for England tag, 239 runs.

Harry Brook’s International career

The year 2022 was the one he was waiting for so long, as early as in 2022, the young cricketer got picked up in England’s T20 team for the West Indies series, where he made his international debut.

In May, Brook claimed place in English’s squad for the New Zealand series, and couple of months later for the ODI series against India.

He, however, finally made his test debut in the month of September, when South Africa was touring England.

He failed to create any magic in his debut game. But, the T20I series against Pakistan changed his stature in the side.

During the 7-match T20I series, right before the World Cup 2022, he ended the series as the highest run-scorer for the English side with 238 runs in 6 innings at an average of 57.00 and a strike rate of 143.22.

He was part of team England, who recently won the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Brook entered the field on the first day of the opening test, when the situation was under England’s control, and they were playing like a 50-over game instead of test.

With 286 on board in 46 overs, he joined with Ollie pope and went on to record 176 for the fourth wicket.

During the process, he did a unimageniary thing in test that is to hit six consecutive fours in a single over.

During the 68th over of the 1st innings, the 23-year-old Brook smashed 4,4,4,4,4,4 against Saud Shakeel.

Harry Brook century

He made sure to complete his century before the stumps on day 1, when England created history by recording the highest ever opening day total in test cricket, 506 runs.

Brook was in no mood to play defensive on the second day too, as during the 83rd over, he struck 27 runs, 6-4-4-4-6-3.

Soon he completed his 150, he, however walked back after scoring 153 in just 116 balls, but his innings displayed the intentions of English players in the longest format of the game.

Team England is already consisting power-packed performers in their line-up, and Harry Brook is just one more inclusion in that hard-hitting batters list, the important thing is he is playing under the World Cup winning player Ben Stokes (captain) and the destructive batter of his time Brendon McCullum (coach).
