Kuldeep Yadav On MS Dhoni When He Lost His Cool :
That day Kuldeep Yadav was deadly frightened and he had every reason. After all, for the first time in 20 years, MS Dhoni lost his own cool, by his own admission. And the left-arm chinaman was verbally warned by the veteran because he did not comply with his orders when he bowled in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2017. “Kusal (Perera) smashed a boundary over the covers, Dhoni Bhai yelled from behind the wickets and asked me to change the fielding, I didn’t listen to his suggestion and next ball, Kusal hit another boundary with a reverse sweep,” Kuldeep told sports anchor Jatin Sapru during an instagram chat.
And what happened next was something that Kuldeep hadn’t taken into account.
“…angry Dhoni came up to me and said, ”main pagal hu? 300 one-day khela hoon, aur samjha raha hoon yahaan pe.’ (Am I mad? I have played 300 ODIs and you are not listening to me).”
The UP spinner was so scared that he went up to Dhoni in the team bus to apologize and asked if he had ever lost his composure like this in the past.
“I was so scared of him that day, and after the match, I went up to him in the team bus and asked if he was ever angry, and he said, ’20 saal se gussa nahi kiya hai (I’ve never been angry in the last 20 years).’
Since India’s semi-final exit from the ODI World Cup last year, Dhoni has not played.
Dhoni hasn’t played since last year’s ODI World Cup semifinal exit from India.
It was hoped that the former captain will make a comeback with the IPL but it got postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BCCI is now looking for October – November slot to conduct the 13th edition of IPL 2020.
