We Bid For All Pacers Before Jofra But Were Priced Out: Akash Ambani

In the recently concluded IPL 2022 blockbuster auction, the Mumbai Indians (MI) paid Rs 8 crore for England bowler Jofra Archer. The speedy, on the other hand, will miss IPL 2022 owing to an elbow injury. Here Is About Akash Ambani On Jofra Archer.

However, the Mumbai Indians (MI) Owner, Akash Ambani, has stated that the franchise attempted to negotiate for additional pace bowlers, but they were all scooped up by other teams. Ambani also stated that the intention to acquire Archer was definite, noting that the 5-time IPL winners weighed all aspects surrounding the need for pacers before purchasing Archer.

Ambani further stated that while Archer would not be available for the IPL 2022, he will establish a strong combination with Jasprit Bumrah whenever he comes back to the game.

We discussed Archer pre-auction but the plan was firmed up: Akash Ambani

“We bid for all fast bowlers before Jofra but were priced out. The plans firmed up last night and it was not that we were setting aside the budget. We discussed him pre-auction but the plan was firmed up last night. We took all those considerations in after what the fast bowlers went for yesterday. He is not available this year but when he is fit and available we believe he will make a formidable partnership with [Jasprit] Bumrah,” said Ambani.

In addition, Mumbai Indians (MI) Chief of Cricket Activities Zaheer Khan stated that he is looking forward to the Bumrah-Archer collaboration. Khan continued by saying that the patient would be well worth it when the two legendary pace bowlers team up for Mumbai in the IPL.

“You are eagerly waiting for the partnership to go on the field and so am I. To see two legendary fast bowlers bowling in tandem and I’m glad that it seems possible and will be worth the wait,” concluded Zaheer Khan.

Ishan Kishan was perhaps the most costly buy of the 2022 IPL blockbuster auction for the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians, who paid a whopping Rs 15.25 crore for the left-hand batsman.
