Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka played an outstanding shot off Australia’s fast bowler Billy Stanlake in the second T20I of the ongoing Lankan tour in Brisbane to score 12 runs off the fourth over.
It all happened when Gunathilaka played a “brave” ramp shot off Stanlake in the penultimate delivery of the fourth over. With the ball going over the head of the wicket-keeper for a six, it was the southpaw’s second boundary of the over.
Opening the batting with Kushal Mendis (1), Gunathilaka, with the help of two fours and a six, played a few good shots before getting out for 21 (22).
Billy Stanlake bowled Gunathilaka at the second delivery of the sixth over in what came as a revenge for the pacer. With Australia captain Aaron Finch bowling Stanlake in the 12th over, the right-arm fast bowler recorded bowling figures of 4-0-23-2.
Captain Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat. In place of Oshada Fernando, Minod Bhanuka and Kasun Rajitha, the visitors included Avishka Fernando, Niroshan Dickwella, and Isuru Udana.
On the other hand, Australia made a solitary change to their playing XI. In place of the fast bowler Mitchell Starc, Stanlake was included.
