Jones Say Pakistanis Bring Different Techniques To International Cricket
Former Pakistan great bowler Wasim Akram called his country Pakistan, Brazil of Cricket because of the raw talent in it.
“Raw talent in Pakistan is like Brazil of cricket,” Akram said during a conversation with former Australian batsman Dean Jones on a YouTube channel.
The left-hand bowler who is famous for swinging the ball meant to say that his country players come from unsophisticated places like Brazilian football greats such as Pele, Ronaldo, Ronaldhino, Rivaldo who have all come from playing on the streets and became some of the greatest footballers in the history.
Jones noted that Pakistan bowlers both fast and spin bring different techniques to international cricket.
He said, “Pakistanis bring different techniques to international cricket, different attitudes fast bowlers like yourself (Wasim) and Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, and of course Abdul Qadir and Mushtaq Ahmed and all these great bowlers that are coming through even now.”
Jones further called Pakistan, a talent factory and in his country Australia, they feel Pakistan has many talents.
He further said, “You (Pakistan) are the talent factory. In Australia, we used to say that Pakistan has so much talent. In Australia, we don’t have kids playing till 24 or 25 but you have kids playing at 7, 8, 9 and 16.”
“Ripping England In Front Of 100 Thousand Was Amazing”
Jones who presently coaches Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Karachi Kings, to which Akram is the president, remarked that Pakistan’s dominance in the ’80s leading the World Cup victory in 1992 against England in the final was important for the craze of the game in the country.
“ Cricket is in the DNA. It’s been great for a long time but really started to turn big time in the late 80s when you rip England apart in front of 100 thousand people at MCG (in 1992) was amazing,” he said.
