Recently Pakistan senior pace machine, Wahab Raiz has been excluded from the upcoming England and West Indies tour. On the other hand, the left-arm pacer has shown his disappointment in not getting selected, despite his match-winning performance in the Pakistan Super League(PSL). Wahab Raiz feels that the selection should be done on the basis of form and not age. And now he is in hopes of getting a spot in the T20 World Cup Squad.
“Obviously, I am disappointed at my exclusion from the England and WI tours after my recent performances,” Riaz told reporters in Lahore.
“Criteria of selection is a question for the selection committee but I think whoever performs well should be selected. They might have their reasons but as a senior performer I am disappointed at missing out,” he added.
Raiz Feels Pakistan Board Has Some Problem In Selecting Senior Players
Raiz spoke about the problem with the Pakistan board in selecting senior players. “I don’t know exactly what issue people have with senior players. Perhaps youngsters listen to what is told to them, while seniors always have their own say in matters and you have to convince them,” he further stated.
Wahab Raiz is a wicket-taking bowler but he concedes too many runs. His economy in PSL this season was 8.97. Raiz’s team Peshawar Zalmi lost the finals to Multan Sultans and finished as runners-up. The 36-year-old has picked up 237 wickets across all formats playing 27 Tests, 91 ODIs, and 36 T20I’s for Pakistan.
Pakistan Tour to England will have 3 ODIs and 3 T20’s starting from 08’July 2021 and will be ended by the 20th of July. Post that, the Pakistan team will be traveling to the West Indies on 27th July which has a total of 5 T20’s. Pakistan is getting well prepared for the T20 World cup by playing against the best T20 teams in the world.
