Currently, the Indian cricket team is following a tight schedule. The skipper Virat Kohli said the team never discussed it as they were firmly concentrating on the New Zealand series.
The Indian team produced an emphatic performance at Eden Park, Auckland. India registered a victory by 6 wickets as KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer hit brisk half-centuries to chase a target of 204 runs.
“We enjoyed it. We never spoke about the jetlag in the team. We don’t need any excuses. We only concentrated on what we can do to win matches. We were just looking forward to playing well,” Kohli said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Kohli On Team Performance
But, Virat Kohli mentioned that the fielding of India could have been better.
“On such kind of pitch, you can’t be harsh on anyone. I felt that during the middle overs we performed well. I feel that fielding is the only thing where we need to improve on.”
While India was chasing, the second-wicket stand between Kohli and Rahul was a crucial one. After that, it was Iyer who steadied the ship. Keeping in mind how the hosts had batted, Iyer began to take control.
“We lost wickets quickly and in that situation a partnership was important. We knew that it was a small ground and at any time we would able to cover the run rate,” said Shreyas Iyer, who was awarded the player of the match for his fantastic knock.
