Virat Kohli is at the height of his career and with each passing day, the popularity of the Indian run-machine is on the rise. This is evident from the results of a recent cricket study that revealed Indian cricketer as the world’s top three most researched players.
A case study of SEMrush, an online visibility management tool, shows that for two consecutive years – 2018 and 2019– the first three slots for the most searched players worldwide were the same Indian players.
For these two years, Kohli, along with the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni and opener Rohit Sharma, have been consistently the favorite cricketers of the country. In 2019, interest in
these players increased by nearly 1.5 times compared to the 2018 figures.
In 2019, Kohli was searched for more than 2 million times on a monthly average from January to September, according to the research results. Dhoni and Rohit also crossed an average of more than 1 million searches per month.
In 2019, the Indian cricket team is top on the list. The England cricket team, however, was the top team searched in 2018. The West Indies cricket team secured the third position in both years.
