Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma Participate In PM Narendra Modi’s Initiative

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma, together with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a demonstration of the country’s collective solidarity, lit up the lights and candles against the coronavirus epidemic. “Prayer for unity makes a difference. “I have been lighting a light every day for many years now. And when I light Diya, I want to lose the darkness in me. To end the suffering of many who have lost their lives without families beside them, for those who are less fortunate and whose lives have completely turned upside down, all the health care professionals who work tirelessly and bravely to save the lives of other beings are uncertain about their jobs and future. So tonight, I prayed for everyone besides, and I lit the Diyas with the whole of India, and we all prayed for each other. Prayers are never in vain,” the full text read.

Prime Minister Modi appealed for the lights to be turned off at 9 pm on Sunday to show the country’s collective vision of fighting the coronavirus.

Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mary Kom, Hima Das, Sakshi Malik, and Saina Nehwal have expressed their solidarity in fighting the deadly disease on social media.

Tendulkar thanked the monastic workers for their selfless service.

“My family & thanks to the selfless #SanitaryWarriors for cleaning up our surroundings & hospitals, disinfecting affected areas and preventing the virus,” he tweeted.

This is the second appeal from the Prime Minister, who has previously urged the country to adopt the ‘Janata curfew’ and to cheer on health workers and other necessary service providers.

It has received an overwhelming response from citizens, including players.
