Two South African players tested positive for COVID-19 during the team’s culture camp in Skukuza, Cricket South Africa confirmed on Thursday (August 20). Both players have been asymptomatic and are in isolation as per protocols.
There will be no substitutes for the two players. “While both players are asymptomatic, the CSA medical team will continue to monitor them regularly to ensure their health and well-being,” CSA said in a statement. “There were no substitutes made for the two players who tested positive. Virtually all those who are unable to attend the camp will join the proceedings. Testing is in line with the obligation and commitment of the organization to control the spread of the virus.
Faf du Plessis was unable to attend the camp because of the birth of his second child while Theunis de Bruyn joined the camp. The camp, from the 18th to the 22nd of August, will be held to educate the players as cricketers in South Africa grappling with race issues.
