Rohit Sharma asked the country to stand tall together:

Rohit Sharma, who is the vice-captain of India’s limited-overs cricket teams, was among the many cricketers, including skipper Virat Kohli, who took to Twitter to voice their support about the statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs. Sharma had put out a tweet saying, “India has always been stronger when we all stand together, and finding a solution is the need of the hour. Our farmers play an important role in our nation’s well-being and I am sure everyone will play their roles to find a solution TOGETHER. #IndiaTogether.”

Kangana Ranaut’s reply did not sit well with Indian fans:

The 33-year-old actress is a multiple national award winner. She has been in the news lately for all reasons. First, she took the movie world by storm when she single-handedly called out Sushant Singh’s demise as a case of murder. She was now taken up the mantle to call out the farmer’s protests. Kangana Ranaut has been vocal about her support for the farm laws. Hence it came as no surprise when she took a swipe at Rohit in reply to his tweet.

There were many fans of Rohit Sharma who didn’t like the response from Kangana Ranaut. They felt humiliating a national sports icon was not in the best interests of the country. Many called out Ranaut for her tweet and condemned her response. The Twitterati demanded action from the social media giant in this regard. And soon after, Twitter pulled down her tweet for violating company rules. The social media platform let out a statement saying, “We have taken action on tweets that were in violation of the Twitter rules in line with our range of enforcement options.” It also took down several other tweets concerning the farmers’ protest.

Farmers protests have taken the nation by storm:

There have been thousands of farmers, mainly from Punjab and Haryana, who have been camping at several of Delhi’s border points since November last year protesting against the new farm laws. They have been demanding that the government repeal the three farm laws and provide a legal guarantee of MSP for their crops. The protests got violent and saw its ugly head rear during the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2021. It left a sad imprint on national prestige on such a fine day.
