Top Three Records Of Rohit Sharma In Domestic Cricket

In recent times, as an opener in International cricket, Rohit Sharma often appears to be trying to own all kinds of records. Yet his domestic cricket record is as good as his Indian Team record. Rohit piled on loads of runs, particularly in the Ranji Trophy before his Test debut.

Top Three Records Of Rohit Sharma:

1. First Record :

Rohit Sharma smashed a ton for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy well before the first IPL and T20I hundreds by Indians.

During the inaugural edition of SMA T20 in 2006-07 season, the first official T20 tournament on Indian soil, Rohit created the feat in his 2nd T20 appearance against Gujarat at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai was chasing 142 to win.

Rohit Sharma scored a 27-ball fifty hitting six fours, and three sixes and it just took another 18 balls to get his maiden hundred in the T20 format and finished off with 101* in 45 deliveries.

2. Second Record:

In the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy Final against Uttar Pradesh played in Hyderabad, Rohit rescued Mumbai. During the first innings, he scored 141, as Mumbai recovered to 402/10 from 55/4. In the 2nd innings, Sharma smashed a quick 108 to stretch their lead to 524 runs.

In the final his twin centuries helped Mumbai secure the title with a 243-run victory. Rohit Sharma has thus become only the 6th player to score hundreds in both innings of a final Ranji Trophy and is the only player in the last 25 seasons to do so.

Sachin Tendulkar was the last player to achieve this feat as he smashed 140 and 139 against Punjab in the 1994-95 finals, respectively.

3. Third Record:

Rohit Sharma became the youngest ever Indian to have scored hundreds in all three professional cricket formats. He was at that point four weeks away from turning 20 by virtue of which he holds a unique record.

Rohit at 19 years and 339 days completed the set of a first-class ton, list A century and T20 hundred.

During the Deodhar Trophy season 2005-06 he scored his maiden hundred in professional cricket. Representing the West Zone team, Rohit has struck an unbeaten 142 out of just 123 deliveries with 14 fours and 3 sixes while chasing a total of 278/9 of North Zone.

During the Ranji Trophy season 2006-07, Rohit scored his maiden first-class century, the tournament that marked his debut for Mumbai, he reached his hundred at the Wankhede on the match’s opening day against Gujarat.

He was then just 19 years and 239 days old but had enough talent to convert the start into a double century. Rohit went on to score 205 runs from 267 balls with 23 boundaries before he got out.
