Top 5 Indian fast bowlers with most wickets in international cricket

Team India is always known for its spin bowling and strong batting line-up, but the Indian pace attack also plays a huge role in India’s success over the years and made it proud. Let’s look at Indian fast bowlers with most wickets in international cricket.

4 are dedicated fast bowlers in this list, while one is bowling all-rounder, who changed the whole scenario of the game and gave the term “all-rounder” a new moniker with his performance in both departments.

  1. Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma entered the international cricket with a storm and made many batters uncomfortable with his perfect line and lengths and sharp bouncers. No fan can forget how he disturbed Ricky Pointing during the Australia tour in 2008.

Sharma has played in all formats for India and bagged 434 scalps to be in fifth spot on the list.

  1. Mohammed Shami

Injury concerns are limiting Shami from playing a significant amount of cricket; otherwise, the speedster could have taken more wickets than 448. Mohammed  Shami, however, is recovering and is likely to play in series against New Zealand.

With the right-arm bowler is 33-year-old and is confident to play for India for few more years, he will surely secure plenty of wickets in future.

  1. Javagal Srinath

Srinath remained the backbone of India’s fast bowling line-up in the 1990s and delivered solid performances that kept him on the list of most wicket takers. Despite retiring from international cricket in 2003, the right-arm pacer is still in third place on the list.

  1. Zaheer Khan

Known as the magician of swing bowling, Zaheer Khan has reached many heights in international cricket and served as the first-choice fast bowler for India for many years.

Khan was the joint highest wicket-taker in the 2011 ODI World Cup, which was won by India, and has performed equally well in SENA countries. His ability to swing the new ball and reverse the ball has gained him a lot of popularity and numerous scalps.

  1. Kapil Dev

The man who made the sport popular in India by leading the side to 1983 World Cup victory, has in 1994 from international cricket, but it still in top spot.

Dev played not only as a bowler but contributed significantly as a batter, and even after 30 years, team India is not able to find an all-rounder of Kapil Dev’s caliber.

Famously known as Haryana Hurricane, Dev grabbed 687 wickets in 448 innings. He took 20 4-wicket hauls, 24 fifers, and two 10-wicket hauls in his exceptional career.
