#10 Kane Williamson – 47.52

He is regarded as one of the modern-day batting greats. Kane Williamson has terrific numbers in both ODIs and Tests. Williamson has accumulated 6416 runs in 159 ODIs at an average of 47.52. He has scored 13 centuries and 40 half-centuries at a strike rate of 80.94.

#9 Ross Taylor – 47.55

On number 9 is another kiwi player, Ross Taylor. He had a terrific ODI phase between 2015 and 2019 scoring runs across the world. Taylor finished with 8607 runs in 236 ODIs. He averaged a brilliant 47.55 while he struck at 83.32. Taylor compiled 21 centuries and 51 half-centuries in the process.

#8 Michael Hussey – 48.15

He was called Mr. Cricket. Michael Hussey made his debut at the age of 29. He then went on to play a stellar role across all formats. Hussey played 185 ODIs scoring 5442 runs at an average of 48.15. His strike rate of 87.16 was par for the course during the era he played in. He brought up 3 centuries and 39 half-centuries. 

#7 Rohit Sharma – 48.90

He is arguably among the top two openers of all time in ODIs. Rohit Sharma’s ODI career took when he was asked to open the innings in 2013. Sharma continues to be an ODI giant scoring 9537 runs in 236 ODIs at an average of 48.90. He is the only batter to score 3 double centuries along with 29 centuries and 47 half-centuries. Sharma’s strike rate of 89.64 stands out too.

#6 Hashim Amla – 49.46

He was someone who went about his business in the most underrated fashion. Hashim Amla was at the top of the game for over a decade. He scored 8113 runs in 181 ODIs at an average of 49.46. Amla struck those runs at 88.39. He brought up 27 centuries and 39 half-centuries showing his terrific conversion rate.

#5 Joe Root – 50.05

For all his achievements in Test cricket, Joe Root’s ODI numbers are stellar too. He is the only active Englishman on this list with a brilliant average of 50.05. Root has amassed 6207 runs in 158 ODIs at a strike rate of 86.93. He has scored 16 centuries and 36 half-centuries so far.

#4 MS Dhoni – 50.57

He is regarded as the best ODI finisher of all time. MS Dhoni was famous for staying not out in tense chases. Dhoni piled up over 10,773 runs in 350 ODIs at an average of 50.57. His strike rate of 87.56 shows how Dhoni gradually became an accumulator as compared to being the aggressor earlier.

#3 AB de Villiers – 53.50

He wowed the cricketing world with his sheer brilliance. AB de Villiers holds multiple ODI records to his name. He holds the record for scoring the fastest century, the fastest 150 in ODIs. ABD averaged a whopping 53.50 over 228 ODIs scoring 9577 runs at a brilliant strike rate of 101.09!

#2 Michael Bevan – 53.58

The term average started assuming importance thanks to the emergence of Michael Bevan. He was the original finisher who was famous to help his side finish on the right side on most occasions. Bevan averaged a tremendous 53.58 in 232 ODIs. He notched up 6912 runs at a moderate strike rate of 74.16.

#1 Virat Kohli – 57.72

He is one of the greatest of all time in ODIs. Virat Kohli has been the best ODI batter for over 12 years. His stats in ODIs are simply mind-numbing. He has scored 12,584 runs in ODIs at an average of 57.72. Kohli’s strike rate of 93.24 doesn’t always get the appreciation it deserves. He recently brought up his 45th ton in the format. Which adds  him on the list of Top Batters With Highest ODI Averages
