Tom Moody, the former all-rounder of Australia believes that the top-order batsman of Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam is an extraordinary talent and is a delight to see while batting on the field.
While discussing on The Pitch Side Experts Podcast with cricket analyst Freddie and former cricketer of West Indies, Ian Bishop, Tom Moody said that Babar Azam will improve a lot and become a top-class batsman in the upcoming decade.
Moody said “Babar has appeared last year but going to be a very special talent. Previously we discussed Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, how good to see him while batting. If you consider Virat Kohli is a pleasure to watch, then you must have look at the Pakistani batsman Babar Azam. My gosh, what a tremendous talent he is.”
Further, the coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad added: “According to me, in the next five to ten years, Babar Azam will be in the list of top-order batsmen definitely.”
The former cricketer of Australian accepted that “Although the statistics of Babar at the current situation don’t fit in the top five batsmen, in the next 5 to 10 years, he will prove himself and take a position in the list of top five batsmen. Even though Babar has included in 26 games but half of those games, he was not considered even a crucial part of the major batting line-up for the Pakistan cricket team. At that time, he played down the order.”
Tom Moody added “According to me, at this moment, it is very difficult to justify his talent at the position provided his stats. He is just averaging 37 away from home and averaging 67 at home. But we have to consider the fact that he has got very a few chances to play away from and many of those matches away were during the early days of his career.”
Now, Babar Azam is at the fifth position in the rankings of ICC Test batting, below Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, and Marnus Labuschagne.
