Tom Curran played a crucial role in the Sydney Sixers team’s victory against Perth Scorchers. Sydney team moved to the 3rd position in the points table. After getting defeated by Sixers, Perth moved to the 7th position in the points table of BBL 2019-20.
First Innings :
Perth Scorchers won the toss and decided to bowl first. It was a good start for Sydney Sixers as DP Hughes and JM Vinces played well and established a responsible partnership, though they lost their opener, Josh Philippe, early. Hughes hit 2 beautiful sixes also in this partnership.
After they both got out, Sydney captain Henriques 35(20) and all-rounder Tom Curran blazed with the bat. T Curran, especially, played pretty well in death overs and helped the Sydney team to get a respectful score of 170 plus with his 43*(21).
Perth Scorchers bowlers, particularly Chris Jordan, took wickets at the right time and J Richardson bowled well at the other end with a low economy rate.
The total score of Sydney Sixers was 174/7 in 20 overs.
Second Innings:
It began with a poor batting performance from Perth Scorchers. They lost 4 wickets in the power play itself and neither the top nor middle-order batsman played themselves in. The sole positive aspect of their innings was due to M Kelly. This tail-ender stole the show by hitting 2 sixes and 1 four. He scored 23 in 14 balls and stayed not out.
Bowlers steal the game for Sydney Sixers
A top-notch bowling display was witnessed at BBL today. Jackson Bird and Sean Abbott stood out by picking up three wickets each. Almost every bowler picked a wicket in their respective bowling spells. Ben Dwarshuis and Lloyd bowled well with a low economy rate.
The total score of Perth Scorchers was 126 all out in 18.1 overs.
Man of the Match :
Tom Curran bagged the man of the match award for his all-round performance with the bat 43*(21) and ball. He picked up one wicket as well.
