Why is Kohli’s car at the police station?
To set things straight, Kohli wasn’t involved in any crime that led to his car ending up at the police station. The reason behind it is something else. When Audi India launched the new R8 model, Kohli sold the older model he was using. It was a 2012 Audi R8 which was Kohli’s first Audi car. In 2016, Kohli sold it through a broker to a man called Sagar Thakkar.
According to reports, Sagar was later involved in a scam and it eventually led to the car being seized by the police. He bought the car from the India cricketer to gift it to his girlfriend. But Sagar, however, fell in trouble because of his involvement in a mega scam and was arrested by Mumbai Police. He went underground after the call center scam was unearthed. Mumbai Police raided his properties and seized the Audi R8.

Thankfully for Kohli, he had his paperwork in order and hence avoided trouble even after his sold car was seized by the police. Sagar bought the car for about Rs 2.5 crore and it was seized within two months. Mumbai Police have kept the car with them and it is their police ground. Kohli has often been pictured with the very same Audi R8 on several occasions in the past as he used to love driving in this beast.
