India is engaged in a five-match Test series with England, which is now tied at 1-1. Unfortunately, there have also been a few players in the Indian batting order who have been unable to get moving for quite some spell, and former Indian batsman Wasim Jaffer has named one of them. Jaffer voiced his displeasure with India’s Test substitute Ajinkya Rahane, describing him as a “disappointment” in the series thus far. Here is Wasim Jaffer On The Rahane
Wasim Jaffer On The Rahane
It should be highlighted that Rahane has yet to step up to the challenge and has struggled to score important runs. He has a total of 95 runs in 3 Tests so far, and Jaffer has chastised him for his proclivity for being removed softly. Because he has regularly done well on away trips, a lot is anticipated of him in this high-profile matchup.
“Ajinkya Rahane has been a disappointment. You know, he’s been getting out through soft dismissals, mostly caught behind. A player of his quality shouldn’t do that because the batting lineup depends a lot on him. He needs to fire if he gets another Test. On away tours, he’s been a very consistent player, he’s put up huge scores in Australia, England, and South Africa. He needs to fire because the nets two Tests are very, very vital,” said Jaffer.
Rohit looked set to score a hundred but unfortunately, he got out: Jaffer
In addition, Jaffer expressed his thoughts on Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara. Sharma has looked set thus far, according to the great cricketer, and even batted effectively in the Leeds Test, when he was simply unfortunate. Pujara, on the other side, regained his lost form at Headingley, batting brilliantly for 91 runs. These 2 batters, according to Jaffer, should keep progressing in the same direction.
“Rohit batted really well. He looked set to score a hundred but unfortunately, he got out due to the umpire’s call. Pujara batted magnificently. He got out on 91 on the morning of the 4th day but he batted really well till then. He looked in a very positive mindset,” added Jaffer.
