The Inaugural ICC World Test Championship was definitely a box-office event. India was on the test cricket roll under Virat Kohli, which gave the team a lot of hope for the major tournament. This competition was further accelerated by the fire of Virat and the calmness of Kane Williamson. Let’s discuss Team India’s Batting In WTC Final 2nd Innings
Kiwis, on the other hand, had a successful tour, with Kyle Jamieson continuing to impress in the WTC. Their pacers rushed into the battle, and the Indian batsmen were completely stumped by the questions posed to them. On the final day, India’s bowling unit found it a Tremendous effort to run through New Zealand’s batting line-up, as captain Williamson and Ross Taylor eased the nerves and led New Zealand to victory.
Team India’s Batting In WTC Final 2nd Innings
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan discussed the team’s loss in the finals on Star Sports’ show “Follow The Blues.” He said that the opposition had an advantage over them since they lacked effective pacers. New Zealand possessed a variety of speedsters to take advantage of the playing conditions in England, but India appeared to be lacking in this department. In the second innings, Pathan believes the batters could have been more calculated.
“We do not have quality fast-bowling allrounder – which New Zealand possesses – and it is hard to find one. Now, if we talk from a proper cricketing point of view – what went wrong for India? I think the first inning went great, but Team India’s batting in the second inning was disappointing. The ball wasn’t swinging as much in the second inning, and Indian batsmen could have batted more responsibly. I am aware of Rishabh Pants capabilities as a batsman and how he can hit balls very well, but that does not mean you hit a fast bowler outside – a sense of responsibility was required”.
After finishing a test series against England, New Zealand had enough game experience heading into the finals. The Indian players, on the other hand, have been absent from the game since the IPL suspended, with the exception of one intra-squad practice game. Pathan drew attention to it by saying “By the time we (Team India) started fielding for the second session, our bowlers were already tired. This happened because India didn’t get enough match practice. When a team gets less match practice, they don’t have the kind of match fitness required for a particular game. I feel this will improve eventually.”
