Team India remained unbeaten throughout their World Cup campaign and defeated South Africa by 7 runs in a nail-biting clash to claim the ICC title.

It was India’s fourth ICC World Cup (ODI & T20I combined), while the men in blue won 2 Champions trophy titles, one in 2002 under Sourav Ganguly and the second in 2013 under MS Dhoni’s leadership.

The Indian team won the T20 World Cup on June 29, and was expected to reach the homeland on July 1st, but they faced a delay due to the Hurricane Beryl and boarded an AIR India flight on July 3 instead.  

The men in blue finally touched down in New Delhi around 6:15 in the morning and Virat Kohli was the first one to walk out, followed by other players.

Indian team then left for the hotel, ITC Maurya, Delhi. Fans flocked to catch a glimpse of the World Cup winning team, and the stars were warmly greeted at the hotel, where Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar were both spotted shaking their legs.  

All the players after taking some rest proceeded to the PM’s office to meet the honourable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.  

2-time World Cup Champions  

India won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007, led by MS Dhoni, and Rohit Sharma was also the part of that team.
