Tamim Iqbal Has Pulled Out Of The Upcoming T20 World Cup

Bangladeshi batsman Tamim Iqbal has pulled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup in the UAE. The left-hander hasn’t featured in the 20-over format since the Bangladesh series versus Zimbabwe in March 2020. From January 2019, the Chittagong-born player has only played 3 T20Is. Here is Tamim Iqbal Pulls Out Of T20 World Cup.

The lefty feels it would be improper for him to come back to the lineup after missing several matches in recent months. He did say, though, that he would not retire from the game’s shortest version of the game.
“Since I didn’t take part in the last 15-16 T20s, it won’t be fair to come suddenly and take the place of the other who played well in those games,” Tamim was quoted as saying in United News of Bangladesh.

It won’t be fair to come suddenly and take the place of the other: Tamim

Tamim is the Tigers’ 2nd-highest run-scorer in T20Is, after only Shakib Al Hasan. The experienced has 1701 runs at an avg of 24.65 in 74 matches, including one century and 7 half-centuries. He is the only Bangladeshi cricketer to make a century in a T20I match.
In the 2016 season of the T20 World Cup in India, he accomplished the feat versus Oman. Tamim has 514 runs from 23 games at an avg of 24.47 in all T20 World Cups. He also scored an undefeated 83 versus the Netherlands in Dharamsala, in addition to the century versus Oman.
Bangladesh has introduced a wide range of opening batsmen in Tamim’s unavailability, along with Mohammad Naim Shaikh, Soumya Sarkar, and Liton Das. While the five-match T20I series versus Australia, perhaps Mahedi Hasan began the batting for Bangladesh.
Tamim last performed T20 cricket in the Dhaka Premier League for Prime Bank Cricket Club. He also guided Fortune Barisal to victory in the first Bangabandhu T20 Cup.
Bangladesh will play New Zealand in a five-match T20I series starting on 1 September at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Despite completing the series versus Australia, Liton Das has returned to the team. Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup starting positions are yet to be determined.
