Talk About IPL When Things Get Normal : Rohit Sharma

Senior India opener Rohit Sharma thinks the Indian Premier League (IPL) can wait for the time being with the coronavirus pandemic wrecking havoc and the world seeing a 21-day lockdown. In an Instagram chat with teammate Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-spinner has asked India’s limited overs vice-captain Rohit about the fate of IPL this season.

IPL 2020 Suspended Till 15th April Due To Coronavirus Pandemic:

The cash-rich league has been postponed until April 15 and it can be moved back with India reporting over 1800 cases till Wednesday night and 40 deaths due to the look of things.

“First we should think about the country. First, the situation needs to get better then we can talk about the IPL. First let life get back to normal,” Rohit said after Chahal asked him about the IPL.

The ace Mumbai batsman said he hasn’t seen his city like this, all roads sporting a desolate look, adding that because of the hectic schedule during the year they don’t get to spend too much time with family as cricketers.

“I haven’t seen Bombay like this before,” Rohit said to Chahal, standing on his balcony, showing the streets that hardly had anyone.

“We don’t have time with family as cricketers. There’s so many tours and cricket here, Now we can spend with them and loads of it,” said Rohit with daughter Samaira in his arms and his wife Ritika Sajdeh in town.

Rohit had been rested for India’s home series with South Africa which was postponed due to coronavirus. The captain of the Mumbai Indians said he wanted to see Chahal in practice after the New Zealand tour for Team India had not gone well.

India dominated the T20I Series 5-0, but lost the ODI Series 3-0 and Test Series 2-0 afterwards. During the T20Is, Rohit was injured and could not play further.

“I’ve been bowling decently but I’ve long missed a winning streak,” Chahal said.

“I’m getting 2-3 wickets, but I want a winning streak, and it’s missing.”

Chahal also laid down his everyday routine these days, saying he’s going to sleep at 5 a.m. and get up at 2 p.m.

“I’m playing games. I’m spending time with family in the afternoons. I’m taking a break and it’s all those things now.”
