Sydney To Host 2020 Women’s Big Bash League From October 25

Cricket Australia On Friday Confirmed The Venue For WBBL:

Cricket Australia announced on Friday that the sixth edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) will be held entirely in Sydney, beginning on October 25. The entire 59-game season will be played in Sydney, a move that reflects the determination within the Australian cricket team to host the full summer cricket. Cricket Australia is working in collaboration with the Government of New South Wales ( NSW) to ensure that competition continues in accordance with government legislation and COVID safety guidelines, with the safety of the NSW group and all participant the highest priority.

Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia ‘s Head of Big Bash Leagues, said a massive amount of work has been done that puts the safety of players, personnel, officials and the public at the forefront while providing a complete, exciting schedule.

“We would like to thank the NSW Government for its commitment to work together to implement the WBBL market in Sydney,” Dobson said in a statement.

“We are extremely proud to deliver a full season of rebel WBBL and would like to thank the NSW Government, our partners States & Territories Associations, the Australian Cricket Association and, in particular, Cricket NSW, for joining together at this difficult time to deliver a secure and successful tournament,” he added.

Last season was the first time that the WBBL had played as a stand-alone sport, introducing the league to a wider national and international audience than ever before. Acting Sports Minister Geoff Lee said Sydney is ready to welcome the WBBL season six with open arms.

“This rivalry continues to develop from strength to strength. The standard of the talent is on the rise and the action is exciting to watch,” Lee said.

“What stands out most is the fantastic example that these women are setting for young girls who want to play cricket. I can’t wait to see the best way out for the Women’s Big Bash League in Sydney,” he added.
