Sydney Sixers have won against Hobart hurricanes. In Launceston on Wednesday, Ellyse Perry registered an unbeaten 70, and Erin Burn’s her all-round effort helped Sydney Sixers to gain a comfortable win of 39 runs over Hobart hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League 2019.
Both the batters Allyssa Healy and Perry gave them a strong start. The opening pair scored 72 runs in 8.2 overs, with the aggressive Healy smashing 2 boundaries and as many sixes in the fifth over. Healy was castled when she was 39.
However, Perry accompanied Ashleigh Gardener and then Burns in partnerships of 51 and 49 to ensured that Perry scored 70 runs in 56 balls.
Hurricanes struggled in chasing the target of 172 runs set by Sydney Sixers. They were reeling at 29 for 3 wickets in the fourth over. However, the duo of Fran Wilson and Corinne Hall boosted their side’s chances with a 69-run partnership, but they succumbed to pressure and were unable to get the required run rate. The duo departed and Burns took 3 wickets.
In the space of 2 overs, she bundled them out for 133 runs. After this result, Sixers got to the second position on the points table, while Hurricanes continued to languish at the seventh spot.
