After a stunning 38-run victory against Sri Lanka in the first T20 International here on Sunday, Team India captain Shikhar Dhawan described Suryakumar Yadav’s 360-degree strokes as “amazing” to watch. Here is Shikhar Dhawan about Suryakumar Yadav’s Batting
Suryakumar hit 50 (34), his 2nd half-century in 4-T20 Internationals, and alongside Dhawan, they put on a 62-run partnership for third-wicket.
Shikhar Dhawan About Surya Kumar’s Batting
“Suryakumar is a great player and we enjoy watching him bat. He took the pressure from me and the way he plays calculated shots was amazing to watch,” Dhawan said in a conversation after the match.
Though Dhawan recognized that they would be “10-15 runs short,” he also stated that the comeback was not too horrible.
“I feel we played quite well after losing early wickets. It was about one or two boundaries, we knew we could get going.”
Everyone Stood Up And Even Varun Too Playing His First Match: Dhawan
Dhawan was confident in his spinners, and Yuzvendra Chahal and Krunal Pandya backed him up, with debutant Varun Chakravarthy putting up a strong performance to make a dramatic recovery.
“They were playing well. We knew our spinners will do the job on that wicket. Bhuvi bowled well, so was KP (Krunal). Everyone stood up and even Varun too playing his first match did well giving a few runs and got the wicket. He’s (Varun) difficult to pick, I am very happy for him.”
Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka thought an aim of 165 was achievable.
“I think 164 was able to chase on this wicket. I think their bowlers upfront started really well. And then there were not enough middle-order batters to finish the game”.
“I think our bowlers did an amazing job. I hope we come out and do better than this in the next game,” Shanaka commented.

I don’t wanna start believing that hardik Pandya is a good player of bad balls. Not just yet. Hopefully his form and fitness comes back soon.

As expected India takes 1-0 lead in T20 series but win by such a huge margin by 38 runs was not expecting. Well played team India! #INDvSL pic.twitter.com/KINf9rn6nW

4 wickets for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. All bowlers picked at least a wicket. Yuzi Chahal bowled well. Excellent win for India. Impressive performance from Suryakumar Yadav: has looked in great touch. 1-0 for Team India #SLvsIND
