Suresh Raina’s wish to call back Dhoni to the Indian team:
Suresh Raina said that MS Dhoni can be useful even now to the Indian cricket team though it is up to the selectors whether they think of calling him back.
“Dhoni will presumably be coming to Chennai in the primary seven-day stretch of March to prepare ahead of the IPL,” Raina told the Times of India.
“I hope to see him keep on playing. He is looking fit and has been practicing hard. In any case, it is Virat‘s approach on how they go ahead,” he added.
Raina, who has played 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is for India, has not yet given up hopes on being called back to the Indian team.
Second knee surgery was a tough call:
The 33-year old, who is returning from his second knee medical procedure, said a decent IPL could bring him once more into contention for the T20 World Cup.
“It is too soon right currently to discuss a rebound. I have consistently loved cricket regardless of where I play. I do have any fixed objective at this point. I have played enough to recognize what the circumstances request,” Raina stated.
The support of the captain and team management will definitely solve this middle-order drama. You can’t expect (Shreyas) Iyer and (Rishabh) Pant to score big runs in every game.”You have to give them the assurance that they will not be dropped. Iyer is very good at No. 4. and I am sure Pant too will make a lot of difference because he is a left-hander,” said the veteran left-hander.
