The World Cup final ended just a night ago and a bilateral series featuring the runners-up will be underway in a day’s time. New Zealand will play a 3-match T20I series against hosts India. The host team will be wanting and waiting to avenge the humiliating loss they suffered against the Kiwis. Lets look at What Do Stats Say About IND vs NZ?

It will be fascinating to watch India’s approach under new T20I captain, Rohit Sharma, and head coach, Rahul Dravid. Despite a jam-packed schedule, this series will be keenly watched owing to the promise that it has for the future.

How do both the teams stack up in T20Is:

India have played 150 T20Is up until this point. Their journey started in South Africa in 2007 when they not just won their first T20 game but also won the T20 World Cup later. India have since then gone on to win 95 matches with a win percentage of 63.33 in the format. They have lost 51 games with 4 matches not producing a result. India’s win-loss ratio of 1.86 is outstanding.

New Zealand have played 157 T20Is. They were one of the first teams to embrace the format. New Zealand played their first T20I in 2005. They have 80 wins to their name as compared to 73 losses. 4 of their games have ended in no-result. Their win/loss ratio of 1.09 pales in comparison to India.

IND vs NZ: Head-to-head

India and New Zealand have played 17 T20Is against each other. New Zealand with their recent T20 World Cup win over India have 9 wins to their name. India have 8 wins, 5 of them coming in a whitewash they handed the Kiwis on their home turf in 2020.

The two teams have played a total of 6 bilateral series with each winning 3 of them. Surprisingly the kiwis have won 3 games on Indian soil while India have just 2 wins to their name. This series provides the Indian team with an opportunity to correct that record.
