South Africa Is A Tough Challenge But Hopeful To Win The Series: Kohli

India ended up winning the 2nd Test versus New Zealand, and therefore the series, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Their upcoming challenge is a three-match Test series versus South Africa, which begins on December 26.

The Indian team’s commitment would be sky-high after defeating the champions of the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) by a significant margin of 372 runs. In respect of runs, this is India’s biggest Test triumph. On day 4 in Mumbai, it took Kohli’s team only 45 minutes to finish up the formalities and take the final 5 NZ wickets.

Upon this series win, India has now won 14 consecutive Test home series. Having stated that, defeating South Africa in their home will be difficult.

We can play in SA the way we know we can play and win the series: Kohli

The Indian Test skipper said about his team’s next series against the Proteas at the post-match session. The 33-year-old expected it to be a “tough challenge.” He was, therefore, confident about his team’s performance.

South Africa is a tough challenge and a win that we want to achieve as a team. Hopefully, we can play in South Africa the way we know we can play, and win the series,” said Kohli. The batting legend also stressed the significance of his side maintaining their excellent benchmarks during their coming tour versus South Africa.

The mindset is the same to take Indian cricket forward, even with the new management. It’s important to keep the standards of Indian cricket and make sure it’s always growing. South Africa is a good challenge. We built it up in England and South Africa last time, and Australia was an accumulation of all that experience,” he added.

The first of 3 Test matches is scheduled to begin on December 26. The tour’s lineup will be updated officially. Whereas the regulars who were out during the New Zealand series are likely to rejoin, a few difficult decisions are considered to be implemented as well.
