The Former Skipper and Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly is thoroughly having merry time for himself ever since he has taken the responsibility as the charge BCCI President. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have now given their decision to stage some matches during the IPL in a bid to experiment how things go on.
BCCI did an analysis of the problem and turned the Women’s T20 match Challenge into a three-team event in Jaipur in 2019 which will grab the attention of many supporters. The game will occur at the same time with the start of the Indian Premier League(IPL).
Sourav Ganguly Talks About Women’s IPL Team:
Talking about the women’s IPL Tournament, Sourav Ganguly said that it would take some time even as the cricket fraternity is waiting for the start of this mega tournament for women’s players in India. Ganguly added that the women’s league that is comprising of seven or eight teams is at least will take “four years away”.
“You need to understand the logic behind it. You need a lot more women players. I see that incoming four years’ time, to get a seven-team IPL with the best women cricketers in participation,” Ganguly stated.
Before doing the execution of future plans now, BCCI has now started dealing with the work and giving more importance to women’s players by introducing the four-team event, with each team playing the other two times. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has faith in his steps like these will promote women’s cricket to a whole new level. At the same time, he also wants the state associations to do much more to widen their talents.
“You have to let the state association teams get stronger, a lot of them are getting stronger. The start of women’s cricket has been enormous over the last few years. Three years down the line, when you have 150-160 players, you can take this IPL a more forward. Right now, we have 50-60 players. With the push of BCCI has for women’s cricket, that will only turn out to be more,” Ganguly concluded.
