Smriti Mandhana Becomes The 2nd Fastest Indian To Hit 2000 ODI Runs

Smriti Mandhana becomes 2nd fastest Indian cricketer to hit 2000 ODI runs. During the match at Antigua on Wednesday, Indian women won against West Indies women by six wickets under the captaincy of Smriti Mandhana. She also remained the top scorer of that match, scoring 74 runs off 63 balls. She got her 9th consecutive fifty while chasing in ODI cricket. Mandhana has scored 663 runs in her last 9 innings while chasing at a staggering average of 110.5.

The left-handed batter has taken 51 innings to reach the 2,000-ODI run mark, becoming the third-fastest woman after Belinda Clark and Meg Lanning to achieve the milestone. While Navjot Singh Sidhu too had taken 52 innings to reach 2000 ODI runs, current India former captain Virat Kohli had taken 53. Shikhar Dhawan is the only one who reached the milestone faster than Mandhana by achieving that feat in 48 innings.

Smriti Mandhana has scored four centuries and 17 fifties in her ODI career. Until now, she has scored 2,025 runs in 51 ODIs at an average of 43.08.

Belinda Clark from Australia holds the record for being the fastest batswoman to score 2,000 ODI runs in 41 innings. Her teammate Meg Lanning required 45 innings to reach the same landmark.
