“Words cannot define the gratitude I have for my fans”- Pakistan’s Skipper Babar Azam

On Wednesday, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam hit a record-breaking 122 runs to carry Pakistan to an impressive nine-wicket victory over hosts South Africa. The same day he replaced Indian captain Virat Kohli as No.1 ODI batsman in the world.

Later, Babar Azam thanked all his fans as well as well-wishers for their love and support after he scored a match-winning century against South Africa.

Pakistan chased a total of 204 runs with two overs to spare dispatching the home bowling to all corners of the ground. Mohammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 73. Azam and Rizwan shared a record 197-run partnership in a devastating display of batting. This partnership is the fourth-highest T20I partnership overall and the highest ever in a chase, according to ESPN.

The legendary Babar took to Twitter and extend gratitude to all his fans and admirers.

“Words cannot define the gratitude I have for my fans & especially the people of my country. This couldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support & trust. Thank you for making me feel blessed & honoured. Keep supporting. Keep praying. Keep believing,” he wrote.

Babar Azam scored his maiden T20I century off just 49 balls. He smashed 15 fours and four sixes in his knock. It was his first hundred in T20Is and also he became the third Pakistani to score a century in all three formats of the game.

The Pakistani skipper proved to the world why he is the best batsman hours after he toppled Indian captain Virat Kohli to become the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world. It won’t be long for Babar Azam to become the No.1 T20 batsmen as he’s only a few points behind Dawid Malan and Aaron Finch.

The last match of the series and Pakistan’s tour will also be played at Centurion, on Friday. Pakistan currently leads 2-1 in this series and Babar Azam will be a strong contender to win the Man of the Series award with Adien Markram as another serious contender.
