Simon Harmer, a star off-spinner, signed a one-year extension bond with Essex. This deal will make the South African Cricketer remain with the club until the 2020 season. He played a key role for Essex in the County Championship and T20.
The 30-year-old took 83 wickets as Essex achieved a second County Championship in three years. Harmer is a key player for Essex. He won many recognitions throughout the year, including:
- The Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) overall MVP(Most Valuable Player).
- The cricket Writers’ Club County Championship Player of the Year.
- The PCA Specsavers County Championship Player of the Year.
- The Essex Player of the Year.
- Essex Players’ Player of the Year.
- Essex Bowler of the Year.
“ The moment from when I arrived, three years ago. I was made to feel like home in Chelmsford which made me feel like a part of the group. Now I consider it my home, so it’s an easy choice to make.” Harmer said,” I am excited to sign the bond and commit my future to this great Club.”
