Shreyas Iyer’s injury has been ruled him out of the IPL tournament earlier this year and he’s on thin ice from being ruled out of the T20 world cup. Recently, Royal London club campaign team Lancashire has announced on Monday that Indian batsmen is been ruled out of the upcoming tournament.
“Following discussions between the Club and the BCCI, as well as the players’ representatives, it was agreed that Iyer would remain in India ahead of his return to cricket in due course,” the Lancashire County said in a statement.
Shreyas Iyer feels completely disappointed by the fact he’s missing to play in England. “I am gutted to not be able to play for Lancashire this summer, a Club that has such history and ambition. I hope to play at Emirates Old Trafford for Lancashire at some point in the future,” Iyer said in an Interview.
‘Looking forward to welcoming Shreyas to Emirates Old Trafford’: Allott
Lancashire director, Paul Allott was waiting for Shreyas Iyer to participate in the tournament and he’s also disappointed. “We are obviously very disappointed, as we were thoroughly looking forward to welcoming Shreyas to Emirates Old Trafford. Ultimately Shreyas’ long-term fitness is of paramount importance and Lancashire Cricket fully respects the decision”.
“We wish Shreyas all the best with the remainder of his recovery, and from the conversations which I have had with the player, believe that this is an arrangement he would be keen to revisit again in the future,” Allott remarked.
The White ball specialist has a shoulder injury last year while playing against England in ODI. Rishabh Pant was replaced as the skipper of Delhi Capitals too. Post-surgery, Iyer is recovering and he was expected to join Delhi Capitals for the remaining part of the IPL tournament. IPL is supposed to be resumed in September or October this year.
