Shoaib Akhtar: “Pakistanis Should Take The Virus Seriously”
The coronavirus continues to pose danger to the world with positive cases on raise. It has infected nearly 300,000 people around the world with 13,000 deaths.
Many countries like Italy, Spain, Germany, and India are imposing lock-downs to combat the spread of the contagious virus.
Even in Pakistan, the situation of the health crisis is alarming with around 800 cases being reported. But the people’s mentality towards the disease has irked Pakistani speedster, Shoaib Akhtar.
Akhtar, who regularly comments about various issues on his Youtube channel said that his country citizens are not taking the virus seriously and are wandering on the streets freely as if nothing is going to happen to them.
In the video, he further said,” I went outside for some really important work today. I did not shake hands with anyone or hugged anyone. The windows of my car were closed the entire time and I came back home as soon as possible. But I noticed a very worrying trend outside. I saw 4 guys traveling on one bike, they were going for a picnic. People are having food together outside, traveling to other places. Why are restaurants still open, why are we not closing them?
He also said, “ Indians have accepted Janata curfew. But in Pakistan, many people are on the streets. It should be noted nearly 90% of cases are due to human contact but people are not willing to stay in their homes. This practice is very dangerous and it is like playing with other people’s lives.
Akhtar Says He Supports PSL Postponement
Akhtar slammed Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi for saying that the PSL could have continued for another 48 hours. The tournament was postponed indefinitely at the knock-out stage with two days of matches remaining.
The retired cricketer said people’s lives should be the highest priority and he also supports postponing the tournament.
