Team India is set to play a 5 match test series against England – which will be starting from 4th August. Both Shaw and Surya’s travel plans had been disturbed after putting them in isolation as the Indian all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for Covid-19. Both the players were among the list of 8 cricketers who were in close contact with the cricketer and were also removed from the Indian T20I squad against Lanka.

Currently, Sri Lanka is on the red list of the United Kingdom government travel advisory – But despite the restriction, Shaw and Surya were given permission to enter. The UK government is only allowing passengers only from the Green List countries at this moment and these rules have been exempted for elite sportsmen like football, tennis, and cricket players.

England and Wales Cricket Board officials have said –  “The UK Government created Elite player exemption earlier this summer to help the Indian touring party travel in the first place. The same rule was used for other sports like football and tennis for the Euros and Wimbledon. And now that is being used for the two new players,”

Prithivi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav will have to undergo a mandatory 10-day quarantine on their arrival in the UK and both the players will feature in the 5-match test series against England which is starting from August 4th.

Both the players will complete their quarantine period by the time of the 2nd test match which will begin from 12th August at the historic Lord’s. Earlier this week Indian players Chahal and K Gowtham were also tested positive for the deadly virus in Sri Lanka and both the players have been tested negative in the initial rounds of tests – as both the players were a part of the 8 players who were put in isolations.
