Shastri Won’t Mind Kohli Exchanging Words With Anderson: Nasser

Former England cricket player Nasser Hussain believes Ravi Shastri will not mind watching Virat Kohli and James Anderson engage in cheeky banter. Kohli and Anderson exchanged heated words during the Lord’s Test, which began with Jasprit Bumrah’s bouncers at the England pace bowling icon in the 1st innings. Here is Nasser Hussain About Shastri

Nasser Hussain About Shastri

Shastri, according to Hussain, allows Virat to express himself and take command in only certain instances. The experienced, on the other hand, stated that Virat’s on-field behaviour keeps the umpires on their minds.

“Ravi Shastri, as a coach, will just let Kohli go. He won’t mind seeing him exchanging words with Anderson or signaling from the balcony to try to get the players off for bad light. It is the captain who is very much in charge,” Hussain said.

“What Kohli in particular represents is modern-day India, the one that won’t be pushed around. Even though umpires might like to remind him occasionally that he doesn’t run the game,” he stated.

Rohit might come across as a calm, slow heartbeat sort of guy:  Hussain

On Day 5, during England’s bowling attack, Kohli took aim at Ollie Robinson, who had come out to bat in an attempt to rescue the match for his side. The 2nd Test was won by India by 151 runs, giving them a decisive 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Hussain stated that while Kohli’s role and attitude are important, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane’s efforts should not be overlooked. Hussain also expressed his admiration for Rohit’s can-do spirit.

“More significant, perhaps, are the senior players Kohli has beside him. Rohit Sharma was right there when he was complaining about the light, and both he and Rahane are integral to the tactics of India. Rohit might come across as a calm, slow heartbeat sort of guy but he is very driven to succeed too,” Hussain said.

The 3rd Test will take place at Headingley in Leeds on Wednesday, August 25. Just after a terrible setback at the Home of Cricket, it is indeed up to Joe Root and his team to justify themselves and make an appearance.
