Following Shastri’s screening test returned positive on Saturday evening, fielding coach R. Shridhar, bowling coach Bharat Arun, and physiotherapist Nitin Patel were all quarantined with him as a precaution.
“Unfortunately, Shastri will remain in isolation for 14 days and will have to return two negative tests before he can come out of isolation. He will not be a part of the Indian dressing room till then,” a source said.
The credit needs to go to the Team for the way they handled themselves: Rathour
The remaining members of Team India have done 2 lateral flow examinations. The group were permitted to continue playing on Day 4 after reporting with negative Covid results. India’s batting coach, Vikram Rathour claimed that the whole affair was a bit problematic at first, but that the players finally opted to concentrate on cricket. He also praised the team for their expertise in dealing with the situation.
“Of course, we are missing Ravi Bhai massively. Ravi Bhai, Bharat Arun, and R Sridhar have been an extremely important part of this setup, they have done well in the past five-six years and they have played a major role in the team doing well. This is what it is, they are not here. In the morning, it was a bit of a distraction, we had a word and we decided we need to focus on the cricket”.
“We are here for this series, and I think the boys did well to not get distracted. There was a potential we could have been distracted, the credit needs to go to the boys for the way they handled themselves,” said Rathour in an Interaction.
On Day 4 of the 4th Test match, India were wrapped up at 466. England openers Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns got the squad off to a brilliant start on Day 4 at The Oval, with the team finishing at 77/0 at stumps. All 3 outcomes are possible entering the final day, and cricket fans will once again be on the edge of their seats to watch the match.
