Shane Warne Express His Desire To Be England’s Next Head Coach

Australian legendary spinner, Shane Warne expressed his keenness to be England’s future head coach. Warne, one of several best spinners in cricket history, has coached a number of major teams, including the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the London Spirit in The Hundred.

The 52-year-old is eager to join the Three Lions, who have recently struggled in Test cricket. Importantly, England split ways with former head coach Chris Silverwood after the team’s dismal 0-4 Ashes defeat. Furthermore, former player  Paul Collingwood has been appointed as interim head coach. On the other hand,  The ECB has yet to select a full-time member.

Warne believes he’ll do a ‘pretty good job’ filling the empty role. “I’d like to do it, it’s a great time to be England coach. I think I’d do a pretty good job, there’s a lot to work with. There are so many good players in England and a lot of depth, but you’ve got to get some of the basics right,” Warne said in an Interaction.

I didn’t hear the captain or any other players sticking up for Langer: Warne

“You can’t bowl no-balls and drop so many catches, but you’ve got the players, they’re just not performing,” he added. While Warne is examined for the position, he will be up against his former teammate Justin Langer, who has stepped down as Australia’s head coach. Furthermore, the lefty was given a brief extension, which he turned down.

Warne was condemned out at Cricket Australia (CA) after Langer was sacked. He also addressed Cricket Australia on why they didn’t look for a suitable replacement when Langer quit, and why the Australian cricket authority shouldn’t give Langer another opportunity if they consider him to be the best choice.

“Cricket Australia were disgraceful in the way they handled it. Winning an Ashes series and a World Cup, it doesn’t get much bigger than that. But [Langer] was a dead man walking. When I didn’t hear the captain or any other players sticking up for him, saying he was fantastic, I found that really disappointing,” he said.

“Why couldn’t Cricket Australia come out and say they were not renewing his contract straight away but would wait until the end of the summer, see who the best candidate is, and if Langer is still the best candidate give him a contract? If I were England I’d be jumping at him,” he added.
