Rishabh Pant’s rapid rise over the last three months has made him a top choice not just in India but also in other nations. The dashing wicketkeeper-batter has made a remarkable comeback and is now one of India’s regular choice wicketkeeper-batters in all formats. After regular skipper Shreyas Iyer was forced out due to injury, the maverick hitter was recently chosen as the captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Saba Karim says that he see a lot of signs of MS Dhoni’s captaincy in Rishabh Pant.
It is too early to say if, “Pant would replace Virat Kohli” as India’s captain: Saba Karim
Pant demonstrated his class by skillfully managing the Capitals and making effective use of Avesh Khan in the powerplay and death overs. He also took on new responsibilities by leading the innings and remaining in the run-chases till the end. Salman Butt, impressed by his captaincy and batting, showered praise on him, adding he has the potential to lead Team India in the future.
Saba Karim, on the other hand, believes it is too early to say if Pant would replace Virat Kohli as India’s captain. During a talk on India News, he praised Pant’s captaincy style.
“I feel it is too early to decide if Rishabh Pant can captain India in the future or not. He has the potential, the way he bats, he captains almost in a similar manner. He has a different style, which makes you happy seeing that,” said Karim.
Pant, is Cool and Calm on his Captaincy for Delhi Capitals (DC), like his idol MS Dhoni: says, Karim
Pant, like his idol MS Dhoni, was calm and cool when captaining the Capitals, according to the former India wicketkeeper.
“He has a refreshing attitude towards the game, he wants all the players playing with him to enjoy. I see a lot of signs of MS Dhoni’s captaincy in him, both in his attitude and his decision-making. He is an instinctive captain,” observed Karim.
Pant needs to keep his strong form continuing and try to secure the wicketkeeper’s post for a long time, Karim concluded.
“But I feel it is necessary for Rishabh Pant to make his place more secure in all three formats. I feel there are still a couple of grey areas in T20s where he will have to work hard,” said Karim.
