“In Dubai, a T20 specialist pacer was reported positive on Friday. In a statement published on the official IPL website on Saturday, the BCCI reported that a total of 1,988 RT-PCR Covid tests had been carried out between 20 and 28 August. Without naming any of them, the release said that 13 COVID-19 workers tested positive, two of whom were players. 13 personnel have tested positive, of which 2 are athletes. Both affected workers, as well as their immediate associates, are asymptomatic and isolated from other team members. They are being supervised by the IPL Medical Team, “said the IPL.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI) has developed strict health and safety protocols for the Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020 season, which is scheduled to begin on 19 September in the UAE. Accordingly, upon landing in the UAE, all participants have adopted a mandatory testing and quarantine program,” the release added.

Though it is known that the tournament is not under pressure from now on, but one franchise that is becoming a “COVID-19 hot spot” is increasingly becoming an problem for other teams as well as the BCCI.

“If there are 13 cases out of only one franchise, then it’s a matter for sure for everybody. The main problem would be if international cricketers are starting to be panicky as they are more susceptible to these issues,” the official told the leading sports website.
