Bangladesh’s fast-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin was ruled out of the tri-match T20I series against India because of inadequate recovery from a recurring back injury. The recovery is likely to take a long time as per the medical team of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The Bangladesh team’s physio, Julian Calefato, said, “Due to a recurring back injury, Shaif (Saifuddin) will be rested from the India tour this year giving him an opportunity to consolidate his recovery over a longer period of time. He will now also have the opportunity to spend more time strengthening his body and his situation will be reviewed by the medical team again in the upcoming weeks for further updates.”
Initially, Saifuddin was included in the 15-member squad for the series, but after his latest scan results, the team management started searching for a player to substitute him. He was selected in the recently concluded T20I tri-series involving Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, only as a replacement for an injured player.
Bangladesh is scheduled to visit India for three T20Is and two Test matches between November 3 and 26, 2019.
