Sachin Tendulkar Finally Reveals Two Regrets In Cricket Career

Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has reveals two biggest regrets in his cricketing career. The fact that he has regrets despite having an outstanding career speaks volumes about the man. Tendulkar played for over two decades representing India in 200 Tests and 463 One Day Internationals. He remains the only batsman to have scored 100 international centuries.

The two regrets of Sachin Tendulkar’s life:

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar reveals  two biggest regrets of his life. Tendulkar was quoted saying, “I have two regrets. The first is that I have never played with Sunil Gavaskar. Gavaskar was my batting hero when I grew up and not playing with him as part of a team remains a regret. Gavaskar retired a couple of years before I made my debut,”

Sachin Tendulkar retired from international cricket in the year 2013 after scoring 15,921 Test runs. He is still the leading run-scorer in international cricket in Tests and ODIs. Tendulkar added that his 2nd regret was not being able to play against his childhood hero Sir Vivian Richards.

He stated, “My other regret is not having played against my childhood hero Sir Vivian Richards. I was fortunate to have played against him in county cricket, but I still rue not being able to play against him in an international match.”

He went on to add, “Even though Sir Richards retired in 1991 and we have a couple of years overlapping in our careers, we did not get to play against each other.”

A career spanning 24 years:

Sachin Tendulkar’s 24-year-long career is not that he merely had the desire to carry on for so long. But that he took care of himself well enough to be able to do so. For the first half of his career, Tendulkar was barely troubled by an injury. The second half of his career saw him grappling with injuries. It was 12 years before he missed his first Test match. In the two years after August 2004, when tennis elbow, his most serious injury and a shoulder injury afflicted him and accounted to much loss of hope.
