West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell revealed the reason as to why he preferred BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) over BBL (Big Bash League) in Australia. Andre Russell represents Rajshahi Royals in the upcoming season of BPL, which is scheduled to kick start from 11th December.
BPL and BBL are both high-profile tournaments and share the same space of the year, forcing cricketers to choose one of the two leagues.
According to Andre Russell, Bangladesh’s league is more interesting when compared to the BBL and added that the duration of BPL is shorter, as well. He also said that new teams, new owners and new franchises are the reasons for opting for BPL.
Andre Russell is excited to be part of BPL 2019-20
The 31-year-old West Indies allrounder is going to lead Rajshahi royals in the upcoming season of BPL and is very excited about it.
Russell said, “The tournament is more fun and it is shorter and so less time away from home. I’ll get a lot of love here. The hospitality and everything is amazing. From this side of the world, you get a warm welcome. I don’t think twice. Once I heard this was happening, new rules, new teams, new owners and new franchises, I was interested to be part of it. I wanted to get the ball rolling.”
“I won’t say we have the best team, but we have a good team on paper. It is a good start for any player, be it a captain, coach and team. We want to use the experience of each player, which will put us in the right foot and also we have a few good local talents. I am watching videos, to know what they can do. We have a balanced team including local and international fast bowlers. We have good options,” added Russell.
