During the fourth day of the second Test of the recently concluded India’s tour of West Indies in Jamaica, India beat West Indies by 257 runs to whitewash the two-match series. The result also meant that the visitors successfully retained their unbeaten spree on the tour.
The Indian victory further came as a significant milestone in the career of captain Virat Kohli. With 28 Test victories to his name, Kohli has now become the most successful Indian captain in Test matches. Kohli surpassed former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (27) to achieve the landmark.
Among the many rejoicing sights at the Sabina Park was one around India middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma. The 32-year old cricketer was seen pulling out a couple of West Indian fans from the crowd to hilariously interact with them in the stand. The two fans also danced in front of Sharma in the archetype Caribbean manner.
Sharma, who didn’t get to play either of the Tests, would now be looking forward to the upcoming T20I series against South Africa at home. Sharma had last played a Test during the tour of Australia last year.
“It is about managing the resources that we have and feeling settled about it. There will always be opinions on a team selected. [Hanuma] Vihari got a nod [over Rohit Sharma] because the combination is important. He’s an effective part-time bowler and helps us when we need to catch up with the over-rate,” Kohli was quoted as saying after winning the first Test in Antigua.
