“Rohit Sharma can break Brian Lara’s record of highest Test score”: David Warner

David Warner was looking to break Brian Lara’s record of the highest Test score on Saturday. Since Lara has scored his knock of 400 against England in 2004, not many have come close to breaking it. However, Warner was looking well on his way to eclipsing that record during his stunning knock of unbeaten 335 against Pakistan in Adelaide.

The Australia opener scored his maiden triple century in Tests and was facing no trouble in batting.  But before Warner could even get close to Lara’s record, Australia captain Tim Paine declared the innings with the scoreboard reading 589 for 3.

Warner’s opinion on who can break Brian Lara’s Test Record:

David Warner has said that if there is one player who can do it, then he is none other than India’s Rohit Sharma. Speaking at the end of the day’s play, Warner backed Rohit to go all the way and break Lara’s record. “If I have to name one player, I reckon it could be Rohit Sharma definitely,” said Warner as he snubbed the likes of Steve Smith and Virat Kohli.

Meanwhile, Australia is well on the course of winning the ongoing Test too. After winning the series-opener by an innings and five runs, the hosts are in the driver’s seat in the second Test. At the end of the second day, they had Pakistan reeling at 96 for 6. Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets.

While Warner’s words must have surprised many, it cannot be denied that Rohit Sharma can play big knocks. He is currently the holder of the highest score in ODIs for his epic 264-run knock against Sri Lanka. Rohit has also scored as many as three double centuries in the 50-over format.
