Babar Azam has drawn comparisons with the most effective player on earth. At current, he is among the greatest all-format batsmen on the earth. It’s been six years since he made his debut for Pakistan and Babar Azam capitalised on all the chances to better effect.

Babar Azam is just 5 points behind Virat Kohli in the ICC ODI men’s ranking. Pakistani pundits have often compared Babar Azam with Virat Kohli, who’s arguably the best batsman of the modern era. Virat Kohli has a rating of 857 while Babar Azam has 852. Azam is expected to overtake Virat Kohli as the no.1 ODI batsman in the next updated ICC rankings.

Babar Azam Responds To His Comparisons With Indian Opener Rohit Sharma

Pakistan’s run-machine has maintained a fabulous batting average of 44 across formats. Recently, he has drawn comparisons with India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Following the sport, Babar downplayed the comparisons by say ing that ‘Rohit Sharma is a different player than I am. Babar said that he performs in response to his power and is at the moment engaged in his lengthy pictures.

“Look, Rohit Sharma is a different player than I am, I play according to my strengths. I am working on my long shots and the idea is to utilize that skill when it’s needed,” Babar Azam was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

Azam’s comments come after he was in magnificent form in the ODI series against South Africa, in which Pakistan won 2-1. The 26-year-old made scores of 103, 31 and 94 in the three-match series, giving him a total of 228 runs at an average of 76.

Babar Azam will be seen playing 5 T20s against South Africa. Azam is currently averaging 48.06 in T20s with a strike rate of 130+. 1 T20I between Pakistan & South Africa is scheduled for 10th April 2021.  Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will be leading Mumbai Indians for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. Rohit Sharma’s team won the 2020 season by beating Delhi Capitals in the final as they defended the title for the first time in history.
