Rise Of A Star – Happy Birthday Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant was born on 4 October 1997 in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India. He studied at Indian Public School, Dehradun and Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi.

Right since the age of 12, Pant would coach on weekends at the Sonnet Cricket Academy in Delhi. Tarak Sinha was his coach there. As traveling proved to be hectic, he decided to live in Delhi.

Initially, he represented Rajasthan at the Under-14 and Under-16 level. But, later on, he started playing for Delhi. While representing Delhi in U-19 cricket against Assam, he gained prominence when he scored 150 in the second innings.

In October 2015, Pant made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy. The next season of Ranji Trophy saw him score 308 against Maharashtra, making him the third-youngest Indian to score a first-class triple century.

In November 2016, Pant scored a 48-ball century in the Ranji Trophy when Delhi played against Jharkhand. It was the fastest-ever ton in Ranji Trophy.

Following that, he was named in the Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for India in January 2017 during their series against England. On 1 February 2017, when he made his debut in the third T20I against England at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, it made him the youngest-ever player to play in the shortest format of the game at the age of 19 years 120 days until then. Later, Washington Sundar became the youngest at 18 years 80 days.

His Test debut was against England on 18 August 2018. Pant became India’s first batsman to score his maiden runs with a six. Immediately a month later, he scored his maiden test century against England.

He made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against the West Indies on 21 October 2018.

In September 2019, during India’s second Test against the West Indies, he became India’s fastest wicket-keeper in Test cricket to have a hand in fifty dismissals.
