Ricky Ponting Shares The Best Spell He’d Faced In His Career

Coronavirus outbreak has put the entire world at a standstill. At this time, a lot of cricketers are connecting with their fans and share their experiences on and off the field. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has one of his own tales on-field lately.

On Twitter, Ponting had announced that the spell of Andrew Flintoff during the 2005 Ashes series’ Edgbaston Test was the strongest spell of reverse swing bowling. Nevertheless, other fans then asked Ponting whether his statement was right or not.

Several fans shared some more spells and questioned Ponting whether or not he felt they were better than Flintoff. Finally, he announced on Wednesday that a Shoaib Akhtar’s spell was the best he’d ever seen. Ponting posted the video of spell on his official account on Twitter.

Ricky Ponting Shares Shoaib Akhtar Clip On Twitter:

After his take on Flintoff, he said he had got some questions among the best he’d ever met. He announced that his spell of Pakistan’s former pacer Shoaib Akhtar was the best he ever had. The former Aussie captain also revealed that either Justin Langer, who was at the other end didn’t want to back up either.

The Aussie player tweet read, “You’ve got lots of questions the other day since calling the Flintoff on the toughest I’d ever met. That from @shoaib100 mph was the fastest spell I’d ever experienced and I believe Justin didn’t back up too much on the other end.”

The spell that can be seen in the video is from a test match between Pakistan and Australia at the WACA ground in Perth. The WACA pitch is also known for being the world’s fastest wicket. Shoaib Akhtar took full advantage of this chance and bowled the batsman to fair fastballs.

In the match, Ponting failed. He’d got three ducks from the match in three innings. Before this test, Ponting with three consecutive ducks had reached the lowest point in his Test career till that point. Akhtar played fast and gave the Tasmanian batsman a difficult time. Ponting, however, faced it all and then went on to score 197 runs. Langer also scored a brilliant 144 in an innings and 20 runs to help Australia win the Test match.
